Shannah's passion is to make a system's interface disappear from a user's experience.

Her path to becoming a principal at Usability Matters really began during three years of living and working in Japan. There, the language barrier gave her a new and deep insight into how people use everyday information and tools, from bank machines to street signs. Since then, perfecting how users experience information has been a full time pursuit. Shannah has a BA in Communication Studies and formal training in Project Management, Technical Writing and Studies in Education. The hats she's worn over the years include project coordinator, teacher, copywriter, content manager, and information architect. Prior to becoming a principal at Usability Matters, Shannah worked with the Information Architecture and Project Management Groups at ICE, an integrated digital communications and entertainment firm.

Shannah's ideal projects involve the challenges of working with unique user groups such as children or non-readers, or unique tools, such as handheld devices. Shannah has had the pleasure of working with a number of organizations including Workopolis, Canwest, Astral Media, Alliance Atlantis, John Wiley & Sons, Microsoft, the National Research Council of Canada, the CBC, Toronto Star, and Expedia Canada.

In her personal life, she can often be found chasing her two small children around her home in Toronto.
