Sarah has a passion for finding the sweet spot between the hopes and dreams of the business, and those of their users.

Sarah's path to becoming a principal at Usability Matters began while working at a tech start-up, where immersion in a software development environment made her acutely aware of end-user frustrations. This experience gave Sarah a chance to use what she had learned while obtaining degrees in biology, psychology, sociology and education. As Sarah's studies had focused on perception, the impact of technology, and the way people absorb and use information, her move into the field of Information Architecture was a natural progression. After leaving the start-up, Sarah became an Information Architect at ICE, an integrated digital communications and entertainment firm, where she deepened her experience in user-centred design, process development and instructional design. Sarah has also taught Interface Design and Usability for the Web courses as part of Centennial College's New Media Certification program.

The projects Sarah has worked on since founding Usability Matters include those for the Toronto Star, Expedia Canada Inc., Philips Consumer Electronics, Alliance Atlantis, John Wiley and Sons, CIBC, RBC, Rogers, the CBC, Microsoft Canada, and Queen's University Library.

In her personal life, Sarah enjoys working on her house with husband James, maintaining a micro-fleet of vintage scooters, and walking her dog, Bear.
